Installation
The mounting hole should not exceed the shank diameter by more than 1/16 inch. Always use a lock washer. Do not overtighten, since improper tightening may lead to ball failure.
Torque guidance
Torque nut to 160 ft/lb for 3/4 inch shanks, 250 ft/lb for 1 inch shanks, and 450 ft/lb for 1 1/4 inch shanks. The ball shank must extend at least one thread beyond the nut.
Before towing
The trailer should be level when attached correctly. Use only with couplers marked with the corresponding hitch ball size and do not exceed the load ratings on the ball or the hitch mount. Regularly inspect and tighten the hitch ball before each use, applying a small amount of heavy oil or grease to the ball. Take care to prevent oil or grease from accumulating under the flange, on the nut, or on the threads.
Safety chains
Always use backup safety chains when towing. Never attach chains, tow chains, cables, ropes, elastics, straps, or elastic ropes to the hitch ball itself. Attach safety chains to the hitch or vehicle frame according to your vehicle and trailer instructions. Save the product packaging so you can refer to the full warnings in the future.
