Boat and RV Winterizing Kit
Application: Designed for raw water pumps mounted inside the outdrive using the conventional muff type flusher method. Not suitable for front engine mounted raw water pump systems. Read all instructions and warnings before starting.
Parts included: tank vent cap, hose flow valve, brass T bracket, tank valve, clear hose, winterizing tank, and tank fill cap. Recommended products sold separately: Better Boat Outboard Motor Muffs and propylene glycol antifreeze.
1. Preparation
Read all instructions before starting. Use propylene glycol antifreeze with a burst protection level of at least -50°F and pre-warm antifreeze to room temperature for better flow. Follow the antifreeze manufacturer’s dilution instructions to maintain the required burst protection level.
Assemble the winterizing kit: remove the tank fill cap and attach the black tank valve to the cap with the valve in the off position. Connect the brass T bracket to the tank valve with the female end at the center of the T bracket. Attach the hose flow valve to the other female end of the T bracket. Connect the garden hose to the other side of the hose flow valve with the valve off. Connect the included clear hose to the other end of the T bracket, then connect motor muffs or another flushing system to the male end of the clear hose. Unscrew the tank vent cap to help fluid flow.
2. Setup
Place the winterizing tank on its side on the swim platform or rear portion of the boat, ensuring it is above the flusher. Ensure the tank vent cap is removed and all valves are off. Pour at least 5 gallons of antifreeze into the winterizing tank and replace the tank fill cap securely.
3. Winterizing Process
Start fresh water flow: open the black hose flow valve, confirm water is squirting from the flusher or motor muffs attached to the outdrive, disengage the propeller, and start the engine. Allow it to reach operating temperature according to the engine temperature gauge.
Switch to antifreeze: close the black hose flow valve to stop fresh water flow and immediately open the antifreeze tank valve. Confirm colored antifreeze appears in the clear hose. If not, stop the engine and recheck the setup.
Monitor antifreeze level: when the antifreeze level drops to within 2 inches of the tank spout, prepare to stop the engine. Stop the engine just before the tank is emptied, leaving no more than 1 quart of antifreeze remaining.
4. Final Steps
Remove the flusher or motor muffs from the outdrive. Replace the tank vent cap and turn off the fresh water faucet. Disconnect the garden hose from the black valve and store the winterizer for future use. Consult your owner’s manual for additional winterizing steps such as fuel stabilizer, corrosion guard, and engine fogging.

De-Salt Concentrate Salt Remover and Flusher
To use with a hose and spray nozzle: Fill the soap dispenser cup for any standard hose soap sprayer (sold separately) with De-Salt Concentrate. With your hose soap sprayer attached on one end, attach a garden hose on the other. Spray onto the surface to be treated, fully coating the surface. Allow solution to sit for 5 to 10 minutes. Heavy salt deposits may require light scrubbing. Rinse with clean, fresh water and allow surface to air dry.
To remove salt by immersing: Depending on the amount of salt deposit buildup, add 2 to 4 oz of De-Salt Concentrate per 1 gallon of clean, fresh water. Completely immerse item for 3 to 5 minutes, then rinse with clean, fresh water and allow to air dry.
To flush inboard or outboard engines: Fill any soap dispenser cup with De-Salt Concentrate. Attach a garden hose at one end and a flushing unit designed for your engine to the other. With just water, run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature, then turn off the engine. Turn on the dispenser to allow De-Salt to run, verify solution is flowing, then turn the engine back on and run until the dispenser cup is clear and the solution has been used up.
Boat Soap Wash Sprayer and Boat Engine Flush Kit
DIRECTIONS: Ensure the black valve is in the OFF position by twisting knob counterclockwise until it stops. Attach a standard water-hose to the female end of the dispenser. Fill soap cup with desired solution, ie; boat soap, salt removing agent. For optimal performance use with our Better Boat De-Salt or Boat Soap. Screw soap cup onto dispenser and make sure there is a secure seal. Cup must be tightly secured onto dispenser to prevent it from coming lose or leaking. With the male end of the dispenser facing away from you, set the blue dial to the desired setting. To set the blue dial, point the arrow above the desired setting (MIXTURE or WATER ONLY) to face away from you. Ensure all the arrows are fully aligned to make sure dispenser is properly engaged. RECOMMENDED: Set valve to WATER ONLY and then turn the black knob clockwise to test. See below for various uses. When ready to use, set blue dial to MIXTURE to mix water with solution in soap cup. Please note: Do not store solution in soap dispenser when not in use.
