This winch is exclusively designed for manual operation and has a load rating based on an intermittent duty cycle. This winch is intended for use specifically on watercraft trailers. If excessive force is required to turn the winch handle, it may indicate overloading. If you cannot crank the winch with one hand, you may be exceeding its capacity. Remember that winches are not designed for securing boats to trailers during towing. Use appropriate boat tie downs for this purpose. Under no circumstances should you rely on the ratchet pawl system to support the load while it is being released. Regularly inspect the mounting hardware to ensure it is properly tightened, and tighten if necessary. Prior to use, replace any bent, broken, or worn parts to maintain the product's safety and functionality. MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS The winch is designed to be attached to a mounting plate or structure capable of supporting at least 5 times the load that the winch will be pulling. The mounting location and hardware must adequately support both your Winch and the load. Use three bolts, along with their corresponding nuts, and washers. Secure the winch to the mounting structure by attaching the bolts through the outermost holes or slots. The third bolt should be inserted through the winch frame and mounting structure, ensuring it utilizes the foremost remaining frame hole. The winch is designed to pull the load in line with the base and not at an angle. The winch may wrap the strap over or under the drum. Attach the handle onto the flattened input shaft end and tighten the included locknut. Do not remove or loosen any of the other locknuts. For two speed models select the desired resistance and tighten the bolt on the desired choice. The bolt closer to the drum is a 4:1 winding ratio while the bolt further away is an 8:1 ratio.
